PTA Weld Overlays & Auto-TIG Cladding

Surface Protection Designed for Extreme Environments

Two Technologies. One Objective: Extend Component Life.

In high-stakes industries, welding isn’t just an assembly tool—it is a defensive strategy. At Manluk, our PTA and Auto-TIG welding cells are dedicated to providing Weld Overlays and Cladding tailored to your specifications.

By adding highly wear resistant materials to specific part locations we can dramatically extend service life of hard-working components. By fusing highly specified alloys to standard base materials, we combat Abrasion, Erosion, Impact, and Corrosion specifically where it’s needed, keeping costs low and performance high.

PTA Weld Overlays — Wear Protection

The Objective: Extend component life in high-abrasion, high-impact environments.

Our Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) welding systems apply highly wear-resistant materials to components that operate under the most extreme mechanical wear conditions.

Why PTA?

  • Dense, metallurgically bonded overlays
  • Minimal dilution with base material
  • Precise control over deposit thickness and pattern
  • Suitable for complex geometries

The Outcome

  • Significantly longer service life versus uncoated components
  • Reduced maintenance intervals
  • Predictable wear patterns for better planning

Common Applications

  • Valve bodies and choke components
  • Slurry pump housings and impellers
  • Cyclones and chute liners
  • Drill string components and tool joints
  • Frac pump fluid ends and manifolds
  • Ground Engaging Tools (GET) — bucket teeth, adapters, cutting edges, shrouds
  • Ore processing and handling equipment

Auto-TIG Cladding — Corrosion Protection

The Objective: Safeguard components against chemical attack, oxidation, and corrosive media.

Our automated TIG cladding system applies specialty corrosion-resistant alloys as a protective surface treatment. Unlike weld overlays for wear, cladding prioritizes metallurgical compatibility and surface integrity for sealing and pressure-containing applications.

Why Auto-TIG?

  • Thin, uniform overlays (0.5mm–3mm typical)
  • Exceptional surface finish—minimal post-processing
  • Precise control over heat input and dilution
  • Ideal for corrosion-resistant alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy, stainless steels)

The Outcome:

  • Protection against pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking
  • Maintained integrity of sealing surfaces
  • Extended life in aggressive chemical or marine environments

Common Applications:

  • Valve bodies and sealing surfaces
  • Pressure vessel nozzles
  • Heat exchanger tube sheets
  • Subsea equipment components
  • Chemical processing parts
  • Marine and offshore components

Industries We Serve

Where failure carries cost,  surface protection provides value.

Oil & Gas

Wellhead components, valves, chokes, drilling tools, frac equipment

Mining

Slurry pumps, cyclones, chute liners, ore processing parts

Heavy Industrial

Equipment exposed to abrasion and corrosive media

Infrastructure

Why Leading Industries Choose Manluk Turnkey

Longer Component Life

PTA overlays and Auto-TIG cladding multiply the service life of expensive components, reducing replacement frequency and total cost of ownership.

Reduced Downtime

When components are designed to resist wear and corrosion, failures become predictable—or are eliminated entirely. Unplanned shutdowns decrease.

Performance in Extreme Conditions

Standard materials fail in abrasive slurries, corrosive chemicals, or high-impact environments. Designed surfaces perform where base materials cannot.
